Week 6. PowerPoint
Some years ago I used PowerPoint Presentations very often. Later I have changed them to flash presentations. I used Adobe Flash Professional program for creating my presentations. The reason I have change the presentation program was the animation. Today I had a chance to look at PowerPoint presentations from new angle. I especially liked the idea of blank slide. It is so simple and so powerful. It can help to return the lost attention of the students, it gives time for teacher or students to interpret the material of the lesson. The factor of unexpectedness is very powerful tool. I saw how my colleagues shared fantastic presentations and I think I will do some for my students too.

Hi Jurgita,
ReplyDeleteYou are right, the blank slide is a good idea to be used on a PPT.
As long as creating the presentations takes time, and teachers face similar problems around the world, do you think it is practical to share, PPT Presentations as we have seen sites where lesson plans and rubrics are shared?
Luis
Hello Luis,
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it is practical to share. But I never find the exactly what I want for my students. I find a lot of ideas, but I still need to combine them into one before showing them to the class.
Best,
Jurgita
Hi jurgita
ReplyDeleteYou have mentioned that you use flash. It interest me a lot.I have also prepared a few.Would you like to shareyours with me?
Powerpoint are very nice till the animation comes. You cannot add the mouse overeffect easily.(I have added in my ppt for Roberts wiki). As for blank slide I use "presing B" and for a white slide "w".I need not add a blank slide for such effect.

Kayym
Hello Kayyum,
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with, I lack of real animation in PowerPoint. I don't have very impressive flash slides, but you can look at one of them: http://magistra.lt/mod/resource/view.php?inpopup=true&id=925
Here was a presentation for English teachers in Russia. I put some guidelines and talked about the situation in my country.
Another example is the grammar presentation for my students: http://magistra.lt/mod/resource/view.php?inpopup=true&id=966
I like that flash has an option of checking answers immediately, so I can integrate mini tests in presentations. And of course, the animation is much more better in flash. The most attractive thing is the variaty - you can choose from lots of tools to make your presentation perfect :)
Best,
Jurgita
