I have read the article "Sailing the 5 C's with Learning Strategies" where in the review of the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning was described the 5Cs. They stand for five goal areas in language learning:
- Communication
- Cultures
- Connections
- Comparisons
- Communities
It reminded me of CLIL (Content and language integrated learning) where we have 4Cs:
- content
- communication
- cognition
- culture
The meaning is very similar, both standards serve for language learning. In the first learning strategies the goal is general English, while in CLIL the main goal is the subject and English is only the tool for reaching it or the secondary goal.
Hi Jurgita
ReplyDeleteI liked your illustrations. The 5C's and 4C's are easy to remember as they are logical. poetic and visual(color and design based). Thanks for sharing.

Hello Hacer,
ReplyDeleteCLIL - Content and language integrated learning
This means that teacher teaches the subject in English instead of teaching directly English. For example, I have IT (Infromation Technology) lessons in English. It is very interesting and useful as students learn not only a subject, but language also.
